About Mark and Ping

The Limerick Version

There once was a lady named Ping
Who really did not need a thing,
But then she met Mark,
And there was a spark
And soon they heard wedding bells ring.

The jobs we both had were quite good,
And some might expect that we would
Try to work for the pension
Ignoring the tension
We felt about whether we should.

You see, we spent most of their time
Far away from the beauty sublime
That both of us cherish,
So something could perish
Though both of us were in our prime.

We decided to leave our employment
And start on our own self-deployment.
We would ask “Who are you?”
And not “What do you do?”
And choose our work based on enjoyment.

By worries and fears we’ve been haunted
But still we continue undaunted.
We’re learning to fly.
Though we don’t know how high,
This is clearly the life that we wanted.

So that’s what our life’s all about.
We’re both learning to vanquish the doubt
As we greet the new day
We just get up and say:
“Let’s keep going and figure this out!”

Inspiration—
The motivation
From within brings the strongest dedication.

Discovery,
And recovery,
Can sometimes be a little Danny Glover-y (THIS STANZA STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

Exploration
Brings elation,
If we’re willing to let go of expectation.

Appreciation
Of variation
Can help us to inspire more creation.

So, it’s an attitude,
Not a platitude,
And it’s about curiosity and gratitude.

No, seriously.

Some of our greatest experiences have come from times when we were willing to just “go take a look.” Drop the expectations, treat the fears as the paper tigers they are, and venture out to see what this might be.

Not everything turns out well. Sometimes we come back shaking our heads saying “well, that was an experience!” But it’s always an experience—and that’s better than looking back with regret.

This blog is an expression of our intention to “go take a look” and see how we can live authentically with open hearts, open minds and a willingness to find our path regardless of the apparent obstacles.

Hope you enjoy it! We sure do!
